Hoppman Yard Ready To fire

 20/04/2010

Sunday's big ANZAC Day meeting could see the Susannah Hoppman stable hit form after working into peak fitness over the past month.

Hoppman and her star apprentice Cliff Smith enjoyed a stellar season last year and all of the indicators are promising for the rest of the season.

"We will saddle up nine runners on Sunday and most of the team are in pretty good form." Hoppman told the Gurkha

"I really like the way Two Strong Hearts won last start and we may have worked out a few problems with this horse. He didn't want to eat when he arrived here and he has just started to chill and save his best work for race day."

"He will hopefully work through the classes and Sundays' race should suit him."

"Simplyirristible found the distance too short last start but he hit the line impressively. He is one of about three horses we have in work for WATC Chairman Ted Van Heemst and the 1300 metres on Sunday should be ideal."

Walkonthewildside and Villazon are the other two Hoppman trained runners that will carry the famous red and green colours of Lynward Park Stud.

"They both look to have plenty of ability and being maidens should be able to work their way through the classes and win a few races for the stable this year."

Walkonthewildside was formerly trained by George Daly and impressed when finishing third to Fumio at Ascot in January.

Villazon like Walkonthewildside is a Bletchley Park three year old and he too was formerly in the Daly stable.

After winning two trials at Belmont Park the gelding finished fifth as a two year old behind Excellar at Belmont, before failing in a race won by Black Nijinsky at Belmont last July.

Hoppman has also picked up a promising Stormy's Son filly which is owned by WATC Vice Chairman Lex Piper and is closely related to his smart sprinter Lachino.

"Cheily has some very good maiden form at Bunbury and Pinjarra and has arrived at our stable from the Todd Harvey yard in very good condition."

"Battle Scene and Coolism are both getting close to their best form and I am keen on the future staying prospects of Outta The Blue who will be kept for the Golden City Motors Stayers Series."
