Two To Follow by The Gurkha

 27/04/2010

The training quinella for Paul Smythe in the Goldfields Printing Company Maiden (1300 metres) by Class To Go and Cool Euro could well be a pointer for horses to follow.

Class To Go the first of the Carpenetto stock to win in Western Australia was bred by Smythe from his former Goldfields winner Classy Charley.

Russell Hanson used all of his renowned vigour to get Class To Go across the line narrowly in front of Cool Euro who had been perfectly ridden by stable apprentice Jamie Morgan.

They finished well in front of First Lot who was five lengths further back in third place.

"Both of theses horses show plenty of promise and being three year olds there maybe some hope with both of them." Smythe said.

"Class To Go is a home bred from Classy Charley who won a sprint race for me up here. I gave the mare to Neil Randall who stood Carpenetto in return for the first born that is Class To Go."

"He has always shown plenty of promise and the step up in distance was in his favour on Sunday."

"Cool Euro is well bred but being a sway-back was in the second sale of his year but we still paid a bit of money for him."

"He is by One Cool Cat out of Nebetiah who is closely related to the sire Akhenaton and Painted who is showing form in Perth for Paul Dyson and recently competed in the Karrakatta Plate."

"I think he may have a bit more ability then the winner and should go on with it from here."

Carpanetto was the sire at the centre of the recent Neil Randall dispersal sale and his first winner will be heartening for the many owners who picked up his stock very cheaply.
