Black George returns to Perth by Julio Santarelli

 29/04/2010

Kalgoorlie galloper Black George returns to Perth for the second time this campaign to contest the Legacy Widows and Wards Handicap (1000m) at Belmont Park on Saturday.
The Peter Fernie-trained five-year-old commenced first up from a spell at Ascot a fortnight ago when placed sixth behind fellow Kalgoorlie galloper Gold Commodity who proved far too good on that occasion to record his third successive win.
Black George found the winner a little too slick on the day but will benefit enormously from the run and it will pay to look at his second up record of one win and two placings from three starts when assessing his chances.
He was a star at Kalgoorlie last season producing five wins and two placings from 12 starts so we know he has the ability and is more than capable of causing nuisance value if he is back at the top of his game in what is an open race.
Danetime mare Miss Timed returns and looks one of the dangers if she can reproduce the form from her last campaign.
Two wins and placings behind sprinting star Hay List and the talented Ma Chienne indicates she is a horse with promise.
With her solid first up record of two wins from three starts, her form at the track and drawn to get the run of the race from barrier one, there is much to like about Miss Timed.
The David Harrison stable is in rare form so you can't discount Goldy Junior and Go Buster and Steve Wolf's Alchemic is also worth considering.
The six-year-old mare has returned to racing this preparation in fine order with successive wins at Albany and winning form is good form.
Fernie will also travel to Northam on Sunday with Verster who is aiming to making it three wins in succession in the Sky Racing-Provincial Challenge Series Heat (1300m).
The Verglas four-year-old has struck a purple-patch of form and was most impressive last-start when an effortless winner over Wit And Wisdom and Coolism.
He is thriving under the stewardship of Fernie since transferring from Perth and could be hard to beat on Sunday.
