Two Goldfields trained gallopers raced at Belmont Park on Saturday and both failed to worry the scorers. Red Fish Blue Fish failed to handle the shifting conditions when she led and finished down the track in the Winter Qualifying Heat. Ben Kennedy set a fast pace on Red Fish Blue Fish and she was in trouble on the corner finishing 12th beaten 4 ½ lengths behind the winner Bike Aaromba. Verster with Brett Mathews up ran into some interference at the 300 metres but the Verglas gelding looks better suited on the Goldfields but was entitled to take his place in the Provincial Championship Final won in good style by Ten Aces. |
