Peter Fernie bounced back into winning form with a double after going winless last week. Both of Fernie’s winners carried the colours of Andrew Inglis from Goldfields Toyota. Fernie (12) leads Susannah Hoppmann by two wins with Paul Smythe (7) and Aaron Bazeley (4). Smythe trained a stable quinella when Fidelma outlasted Class To Go in the Albion Shamrock Hotel Handicap and Aaron Bazeley trained the galloping grey Midnight train to his first win of the year in the Boutique Laundry and Dry Cleaning Handicap. Damian Lane 9 wins, leads from Campbell McCallum (8) and Russell Hanson (7) in the Jockey of the Year. Lane and McCallum are also one win apart in the Scimitar Services Apprentice Jockey of the Year. The Hoppmann trained pair of Two Strong Hearts (15) and Simplyirresistble (14) are well clear in the Dr Brent Hunt Horse of the Year Award. The Gurkha |
