Pinzera set to reignite career by Juilio Santarelli

 11/06/2010

Darren McAuliffe will travel to Kalgoorlie on Sunday in an attempt to reignite the career of three-year-old gelding Pinzera.
The son of Pins has been a work in progress for the McAuliffe team with just one career run in 12 months surrounded by eight trials.
But that one outing at Pinjarra was a solid enough indication to suggest the horse had ability and was worth persevering with when placed third to the promising Albany galloper and Steve Wolfe-trained Our OL’ Fella.
Pinzera displayed plenty of dash to kick clear at the top of the straight and appeared the winner for a fleeting moment before wilting over the latter stages in a performance that nevertheless was encouraging.
Our Ol’ Fella has since continued to display his potential and is considered a bright prospect for the Wolfe camp and a potential Guineas campaigner.
He has won five from nine starts including a dominant effort at Belmont Park a fortnight ago.
If Pinzera is anywhere near his best and has overcome any lingering injury concerns he could be hard to hold out in the Harlsan Maiden (1100m).
Stable mate Keep’emoff was a brilliant winner at Belmont Park two starts back when sprinting away from his rivals in easy fashion and backed that up a week later when third to Away Ye Go at Northam.
She’s had a nice freshen up since and the drop back to 1100m should have her primed to run a strong race in the Barnicott Plumbing Handicap (1100m).
Leading trainer Peter Fernie will play a strong hand in Cartelec Handicap (1200m) with Danterina and Wocket In A Pocket.
Danterina hasn’t put a foot wrong since transferring from the Lindsey Smith stable with one win and a second placing to her credit and is more than capable of going on with it on Sunday.
Wocket In A Pocket resumed from a lay off with a third to Danterina but does meet her stable mate better off at the weights, has drawn barrier one and hasn’t missed the money second up from a spell.
Look for Scenic Pursuit to put in an improved performance in the SKVFB Life Members Handicap (1400m).
Forget his previous run when last behind Simply Irresistible and go on his effort the start prior when second to Interange at Pinjarra.
He knows the track well with a maiden win last year and from barrier one will get the run of the race.
