The age old adage of backing mares in form continued on Sunday when Zedream easily accounted for a strong field of sprinters in the Strudwick HR Sprint (1100 metres). Peter Fernie has this five year daughter of Zedrich flying at the moment and the combination of horse and Kyra Yuill is working beautifully. Zedream was again held up for as long as possible on Sunday before Yuill pushed the button and the chestnut did the rest, blowing away the opposition easily by 1 ½ lengths. The win was her fifth career victory, which have all been over the 1100 metres. She handled the rise in class without a problem and with her current rating, Zedream should be able to continue her winning run. Zedream was bred by Professor John Yovich from Vinmar Nominees and is out of the Flying Spur mare Wild Ride. Rich And Wild and Shameless Hussey are both full relations to Zedream and an unraced two year old by Trade Fair named Wild Charger is set to debut soon. |
