Great Start by The Gurkha

 22/06/2010

Former Kiwi Mr Tompkins enhanced the Kalarena form and made a great start to the day for punters and apprentice Jamie Morgan when he bolted up the Peggy Strudwick-Brown Maiden (1400 metres) by 1 ½ lengths from Be Smart and Castle Reign.

Morgan allowed the Paul Smythe trained gelding to sit back off the pace and when asked, displayed a nice turn of foot in the straight.

The Shinko King four year old is the first foal out of the Oregon mare Annanore and obviously improved from his last start second and looks a horse to be followed in coming weeks.
