Yuill Is A Classy Customer by The Gurkha

 7/07/2010

Classy Perth apprentice jockey Kyra Yuill again displayed her vast potential and ability with a winning double at the Coolgardie Race Clubs first meeting of the year.

The Warwick Bradshaw indentured jockey was seen at her best aboard the Aaron Bazeley trained True Xaar who finished strongly from just off the pace to score in the Mick Pavlinovich Maiden (1400 metres).

Yuill then rode Lottabiz for Neville Parnham, settling the gelding worse the midfield before unleashing a powerful finishing burst to run away and score an emphatic win in the Railway Lodge Handicap (1600 metres).

“Both horses ran really well. True Xaar was a little green throughout the race but I was able to get him home hands and heels and there are a few more wins left in him for Aaron and the stable.”

True Xaar was formerly trained by Neville Parnham at Ascot and his win followed a handy fifth to Mr Tompkins on June 20.

“I expected to be a lot closer on Lottabiz because on paper there didn’t look to be a lot of speed in the race. However they all went handle bars down and I found myself back near to last, down the side.”

“They started to drop back a little from the 600 metres and while the second and third placed runners were able to get runs through the field, I had to hook wide and come down the outside of the field.”

“The way he hit the line indicates to me he should be able to win a few more races up here.”

Lottabiz defeated Master Izaac and Cool Euro with the first three home, all at the tail of the field at the 400 metres, vindicating the claims from Yuill that the tempo was far too strong for this class of galloper.

Lottabiz is likely to stay in Kalgoorlie with Stephen Miller before heading back to Perth.

Yuill has been in cracking form both in Kalgoorlie and at Belmont Park and her winning ride on Battle Emblem last Saturday at Belmont Park was as good as you could ask for.

Her brace of wins on Sunday takes her to seven wins for the season and while the task looks a difficult one, she could turn out to be a real danger to Damian Lane (13) winning the Scimitar Services Apprentice of the Year award.
