The current Mr Consistent of Kalgoorlie racing Major Canny was responsible for the win of the day, when he registered his third win of the season in the Eagle Petroleum Coolgardie Roadhouse Handicap (1300 metres). The Ross Craig trained gelding won his sixth race on the local course and the manner of his win would suggest that statistic will be more impressive before years end. Richard Rhodes celebrated the second leg of a winning double on the five year old son of Canny Lad who led all of the way and held off the late challenge from last start winner Trentan Dior. Major Canny carried the crushing top weight of 61.5 kg- 6 kg more then the runner up who failed to catch the winner by half a length on the line. The win of Major Canny was his third for the season which also includes three placings from seven starts. |
