The wily veteran Russell Hanson used all of his experience to get Brat home in the Ausdrill Limited Handicap (1600 metres) from Menuhin, Star Ruler and the unlucky Mr Tomkins. Hanson found himself back in the field but didn’t panic on the Neville Newton trained gelding, deciding to follow the rails home and with the aid of the cutaway rail, surged late to claim the prize. The win was the 15th of the season for Hanson and increased his lead to two over Damian Lane (13) in the Kleen West Distributors/Surekleen Products Jockey of the Year award. |
