To witness the young apprentices Andrew Castle and Munusamy Ganesh stage a battle royale in the final event of the day the Australian Reliance Handicap(1100 metres) was a pleasure to behold. Ganesh decided to lead on Zedream with Castle riding shot gun aboard Caribbean Cruise. The two front runners cleared away from the opposition and staged a two horse war, with Castle pushing out Caribbean Cruise to score by a short neck on the line. Both young jockeys have a bright future in the saddle as has Kyra Yuill the rider of the third placed Ron’s Gem who was finishing on the inside of runners, one length back from the winner. Again the apprentice jockeys filled the first three placegetters which has become a regular occurrence this season. |
