It was a big day for the Goldfielders with Underline winning for Pat Bermingham and reigning Horse of the Year Sonny Biscay going down by a nose in the opener. Bermingham should have won the ward fro Trainer of the Day after applying the blinkers to Underline and engaging the brilliant Shaun O’Donnell. The gelding was also placed brilliantly dropping 4 kgs and with O’Donnell giving Underline the prefect trailing run, the gelding scored at the big odds of $33. No such luck for Sonny Biscay who did everything but win the opener. The exciting three year old was just touched off by the Lou Luciani trained Terada with a nose back to The Entourage in third place. Fernie plans to spell the well bred gelding and bring him back for some city races as a four year old. |
