SJ Miller is on a Roll by Juilio Santarelli

 21/07/2010

With five winners from the past two meetings Stephen Miller will head towards Sunday’s Kalgoorlie programme with a full-steam of confidence.
And with strong representation in the feature event of the afternoon: the $14,000 Golden City Motors Stayers Series Final the consistent form can continue.
Top weight Lottabiz is peaking at exactly the right moment and is chasing his third consecutive win.
The Key Business gelding was fourth in this race last year behind Zubizaretta and has looked impressive in running home strongly at each of his two wins and with the services of in-form apprentice Kyra Yuill will play a major role in the race.
“He is going really well at the moment,” said Miller.
“His preparation going into this year’s race is much different than last year.
“He had a tough campaign leading in whereas this time in he has fresh legs.
“My only slight concern is the query over the distance.”
Lottabiz has had ten attempts at the journey with his best efforts two fourth placings.
Stable mate Henry Joseph produced his best run this preparation with a fast-finishing third to Menuhin two weeks back.
He hit the line hard and with four runs back he should be cherry-ripe to play his part in the race.
Duncan Miller will once again take the reins on the Ihtiram seven-year-old and the talented apprentice has wasted little time in returning to the winner’s list following a lengthy suspension and was in sparkling form with a treble last week.
“I have been pleasantly surprised by his efforts since returning,” Miller said.
“I thought it might have taken a little longer to get into the rhythm of things but he’s come back in fine fettle.”
It’s been over a year since Vain Raider last scored a win and her recent form has been moderate but Miller refuses to discount her chances.
“She is the smoky of the three,” Miller said.
“I have made some minor gear adjustments and her work during the week has been superior to Lottabiz and Henry Joseph.
“I’m reluctant to lean one way or the other with my three runners and I wouldn’t swap any of them.
“If it’s a truly run staying race they will all come into play.”
