Midnight Train's win was his sixth from 42 starts and exemplified the dedication of the husband and wife team of Aaron and Misty Bazeley. "He is racing in career best form. It was a great ride by Misty, she went at the right time and the horse kept on fighting to the line. "Aaron Bazeley told The Gurkha "They all had their chances but couldn't get past him in the straight." "The horse has always been a pleasure to train and right at the moment deserves his chance in some of the better staying races." "He will go three weeks into the Tatts Cup and we will see from there." Cool Euro loomed as the big danger to Midnight Train and appeared the likely winner at the 100 metres but could not race past Midnight Train. The run of the race outside of the winner was Power Torque who flew home from near last to just miss second place and this Sue Hoppmann trained gelding may have found his new place in life as a stayer.
