Round Report
The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Race Club 2009 Race Round is upon us and once again it gives me tremendous pride and pleasure, as Chairman, to welcome everyone to the 2009 Race Round. This will be the 113th Race Round and from year one in 1896 this iconic event has been providing racing enthusiasts and the Goldfields community at large an opportunity to experience excitement and entertainment at the historic Goldfields venue. From times past to recent years the Round has produced something extraordinary in the way of exceptional equine performance, fantastic entertainment or personal memories and I would see this year's event as being no different in that respect. It has proven to be a time of the year when just being there was well worth it. 2009 is shaping up as one of the strongest and most successful seasons on record for the KBRC and with all time high stake moneys and bonuses of over $1 million dollars on offer over the Round, I am sure the action will be as exciting and spectacular as past years. My sincere thanks must go to all our loyal sponsors and supporters of the club, both over the round and throughout the year. Their support is paramount in keeping the club and the industry throughout the Goldfields region healthy. Local participation in this industry has, and always will be, essential in ensuring we are able to contribute back into the local economy and community by the staging of this wonderful event. Finally, again, a hearty welcome to one and all, and I trust you enjoy the colour, excitement and hospitality of the Goldfields and the Greatest Show on Turf throughout the Round 2009. David Prance |
